Rohan's First Swim

Today Rohan enjoyed his first time in a swimming pool. He donned his wonderfully bright swim suit and enjoyed a refreshing dip at the JCC pool. Rohan had an opportunity to practice his backstoke and his kicking and spent almost 30 minutes in the pool!

Swingin'

Mommy and Rohan decided to enjoy some quality time in the neighborhood park this week. Rohan felt he was now old enough and big enough to enjoy a little time in the swing. He doesn't look too happy but he actually had a good time. Once he had mastered swinginig, Rohan enjoyed playing in the sand and observing the other kids.

Camp Tracy

Given the warm weather this weekend Rohan decided he wanted to spend time at Camp Tracy at his Grandparents' home enjoying the company of the Great Grandparents, Grandparents, and Uncle Aditya. There was a lot of fun had by the pool, a little yoga to stretch out those chubby legs and arms, and some good bbq (thanks to the culinary expertise of Rohan's Patti).

What's With The Hair

Rohan decided he'd show off his serious bed-head today and also take a ride on his mommy's shoulders. His hair is just so much fun to watch and play with. He's certainly going for the lazy college kid look and he's not even 3 months old yet.

Father's Day

Anand's first Father's Day today was quite a lot of fun. We had a wonderful lunch with several friends, Anand played a little softball (he was terrible at bat but did okay with his fielding duties), time at the park for Rohan, and then a wonderful dinner with Pau Bhaji (Indian Sloppy Joe) prepared by Anand's grand-father and blueberry cake organized by Anand's mom (a special thanks to Anand's mom for the wonderful balloon and card presented to Anand on behalf of Rohan). Rohan decided that today he would show his parents that he's a ladies man and took a nice snooze with so many women keeping an eye on him during daddy's softball game.

Rohan has decided he's going to be very social and loves "talking" with his mommy and daddy as well as anyone else who will listen to him and spend time talking back to him. He gets to hear Tamil and English and he has mastered several different sounds. It's fun watching his eagerness to communicate.

Logos Galore

Rohan's not big into sports or major cities yet but he has decided he's going to show off a few items in support of the Cleveland Browns football team and New York City.

Tracy Tamasha (means "Fun" in Hindi)

May 24th marked a few very important accomplishments: 1) Rohan's 2-month birthday; 2) Rajathi Athai and Karthik Athimabare's 40th wedding anniversary (Anand's dad's sister and brother-in-law); 3) Prem and Rekha's 7th wedding anniversay (Anand's cousin and his wife). To celebrate these key events, Anand's mom decided to put together an awesome get-together as only she can do. Everyone gathered in Tracy for the day to enjoy the amazing food prepared by Anand's mom, musical entertainment provided by Raj and Aditya, a musical medly performed by Karthik Athimbare, and a ton of laughs.

Rohan is already getting to be a groupie and decided to jam with the band for a little while. He really enjoyed the awesome performance put on by Raj and Aditya. Rohan also decided he would spend time with his surrogate grand-parents (Rajathi Athai and Karthik Athimbare were Laura's surrogate parents during the Indian wedding ceremony given that the girl's parents have to recite a string of religious prayers and we didn't want to subject Laura's parents to having to do that... the 2-day wedding could have taken a week if we have attempted that).

What's in a name??

The trademark name Baby Einstein implies the products will make your kiddo smarter. Too bad the franchise's DVDs have been inversely correlated with language development. But Rohan seems to like the play mat - viva la Einstein!

New Skills Come Fast

Wow - Rohan must be a prodigy! Look at him sitting up all by himself! Well, OK..... the chair might have something to do with it - but don't tell that to a proud mama!

This parenting thing aint so bad...

Our job is starting to get more fun now that Rohan is rewarding us with cooing & smiling.

Happy Mother's Day!

Even though he's only 7 weeks old, Rohan made his mommy a very cute card for Mother's Day. Thanks, Rohan!

Sleep when baby sleeps?...

Everyone says to sleep when the baby sleeps. Sometimes that is possible, but not always. Mommy wonders when she is supposed to go potty or brush her teeth!?

Lounging by the Pool

Rohan loves being outside and today he got to hang out with his Patti in the Tracy house and chill out by the pool. He likes to maintain his natural tan so it was important for him to spend a little quality time by the pool and Patti made sure he got to do just that.

Chillin in the Park

This weekend Rohan decided he really wanted to spend time with his Patti (Grandma) and Kollu Patti and Kollu Thatha (Great Grandmother and Grandfather). We headed over to Tracy (60 miles from San Francisco) to Patti and Thatha's home (Rohan wanted to see Babu Thatha as well; unfortunately Babu Thatha was in Sri Lanka on some work but got to see Rohan through video on Skype).

We decided to hit the local Tracy park so that Penny could get her exercise and Rohan could hang out with everyone. It was a beautiful day with perfect temperatures and Rohan got to spend some quality time outdoors. He also got to play on the swing with mommy and you can see he liked to hold on to the swing by himself.

Kollu Thatha and Patti Arrive

Today (April 29th) Rohan got to meet his Kollu Thatha and Kollu Patti (Great Grandfather and Great Grandmother) for the very first time. They arrived in SF earlier today after a tiring but comfortable journey from India and will be spending the next four months in the US visiting with family and spending lots of time with their three great grand children who live in the bay area. Rohan enjoyed the extra attention and love that his great grand parents showered on him and is looking forward to seeing a lot more of them over the next several months!!

Rohan In His Drib

Since Rohan likes to drool and spit up his milk once in a while, we found that we chagned his clothes a few times a day. We now have the perfect solution... the Drib. Our friend, Huong Remotigue, invented and designed the Drib and hand makes each of them at her home. She has them in different sizes and they fit perfectly and very comfortably under the chin and catches all the drool and spit up. We absolutely love it!! Thank you Huong!!! Rohan the Rock Star

Since we get to pick out the outfits for Rohan, we thought it was a good opportunity to have him look like a rock star... perhaps Axl Rose, the lead singer of Guns N' Roses, or perhaps Bret Michaels from the reality show Rock of Love.

Penny and Rohan

Since both Penny and Rohan do like to just chill most of the day, they get along really well. They have some very similar interests... lazing in their favorite chair/bed and looking out the window to see what's happening in our neighborhood. Penny likes to hang out with Rohan quite often and does a really great job keeping him company.
